In a celebration of the Art of Living's 35 years of service, humanity, spirituality and human values, Bhanumathi Narasimhan, director of Art of Living movement on Saturday announced that it would host a world culture festival in Delhi on March 12-13, 2016, in which around 3.5 million people from 155 countries are expected to attend the festival.

Announcing the festival Narasimhan said that the purpose and of this festival is to bring people together in a spirit of oneness, while celebrating cultural diversity.

"In an era when people wonder what to do about terrorism and violence, the festival wants to state that there are good people in the world. We should not lose heart either to terrorism, or on an individual level, to stress," said Narasimhan, who is also sister of spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

Thousands of musicians and dancers are expected to perform on a stage that will be spread in around seven acres, set amid 300 acres of Delhi's Mayur Vihar, Narasimhan said. Spiritual guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar will personally lead the two-day festival.

The global leadership forum will also be held under the aegis of the world culture festival. It will bring the world leaders of different fields together at one place. Among the reception committee to the forum are US Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, former UN secretary general Boutros Boutros-Ghali and former chief justice of India RC Lahoti.

"We aim for a peaceful world and peace starts at the level of the individual before it can move towards society," said Narasimhan. "When thousands of individuals radiating positivity come together, it can make a difference to society."

Backbends asanas

Backbends are one of the most difficult asanas for the body to perform, as they require great flexibility and balance. Contrary to popular belief, backbend stretching is neither stressful nor dangerous, but is highly beneficial to the body as well as the mind.

One of the most notable benefits of backbends is relief from anxiety and stress. By opening up the frontal portion of the body, muscles and joints are relieved of the accumulated stress. This in turn helps one in coping with anxiety and other stress related ailments. In case of irritability, lack of sleep or even mental chatter, backbend poses bring immediate relief.

While in a fairly rounded backbend posture, the kidneys are said to go under compression, under which the blood drains out of the organ. When released, a fresh flow of oxygenated blooded rushes back into the organ, flushing out the toxins.

Also, backbend yogic asanas are said to open specific energy points (chakras) in the body, which help in the general well-being of the person, both in the physical and the spiritual sphere.

Sleep on the left side is good for health

Sleep on the left side is good for health

SLEEP GOOD
Not everyone knows that the position that we take when we sleep has a significant influence on own digestion. It is no coincidence that, in ancient times, the monks decided to lie down after each meal just for ten minutes, and this served to make the entire digestive lighter.
Nor is it a coincidence that the most ancient tradition of oriental medicine (ayurvedic) as well as the Indian suggest you go to sleep lying down on his left side. But what is the reason? For that reason it is necessary to follow this precaution? Quite simply, our lymphatic system relies on the left side of our body, which means that both the stomach that the liver, but also the bladder and the pancreas, are able to dispose of waste products and they drain to the side digestion and produce at the same time the enzymes that the body needs by neutralizing fatty acids and without pressure.
